Cassie Downton

Training Manager

  • BSc Microbiology, University of Waterloo

Between her degree in microbiology and her many years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, Cassie has developed a keen eye for detail and an aptitude for data-driven analysis. Over the past few years, she has become particularly adept at taking qualitative and abstract concepts such as “trust” and “authority” as defined in Google’s guidelines on site quality, and turning them into actionable metrics that sites in the health and medical niche can combine with technical SEO in order to provide a more holistic approach towards recovery from broad core algorithm updates, such as Medic.

In addition to consulting work, Cassie also curates our weekly newsletter.

In her spare time, Cassie is an avid traveler with an extensive bucket list of adventures around the world that she has been steadily working her way through. She has two very spoiled dogs, and when at home, you’re most likely to find her either on the couch cheering on her favourite sports teams, or exploring the local craft breweries.

Speaking info:

Cassie has spoken publicly on how to help websites recover from Google’s Core Quality Algorithm Updates at conferences such as DMSS, in Bali. She has also spoken on podcasts about backlink quality and disavowing.
